: Twister :
Species: Harbor Seal

Twister has been an interesting case for the rehabilitation team. Her pick-up went very smoothly; she spent 24 hours under observation on a beach in Unalaska to ensure that she was truly an abandoned seal pup. Then, she was flown to Seward aboard a donated Ace Air Cargo flight. However, there was much debate at the SeaLife Center as to what type of seal was the five-week-old orphan. The timing and location of her rescue and her own particular body markings could make her either a harbor seal or a spotted seal. Only a genetics test will confirm her species. Regardless, Twister is receiving the same treatment as all seal pups; she is currently being fed herring and practicing her swimming and diving daily.
