The Alaska SeaLife Center (ASLC) will reopen to the public on Wednesday, May 20, following Phase 2 of the state’s “Reopen Alaska Responsibly Plan.” The Center will operate well below 25% capacity and is implementing new standard operating procedures and enhanced health and safety measures to safeguard guests, staff, and animals.

March 14, 2020 - To support public health efforts in the best interest of our community and our staff, the Alaska SeaLife Center will close temporarily to the public beginning Monday, March 16 until further notice.

Sea otter pup enters ASLC’s Wildlife Response Program

The Alaska SeaLife Center (ASLC) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2020 Alaska Ocean Leadership Awards. These awards are given annually to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the awareness and sustainability of the state’s marine resources.

The Seward Volunteer Fire Department responded to an alarm at 6:37 p.m. at the Alaska SeaLife Center (ASLC). Upon arrival, crews were informed of smoke coming from the Center’s avian curatorial on the second floor. The fire sprinkler system had extinguished what was believed to have been a small electrical fire.

The Alaska SeaLife Center’s (ASLC) Stranding Hotline is still only working intermittently due to technical difficulties. The team at ASLC is working quickly to solve the issues, but as of now are unsure when it will be fully operational.
